SN-95 Mustangs (GT, SVT Cobra) can be fun cars, but most models came with relatively narrow wheels which really limited their capabilities on the street and track. If you want to extract even more performance from your car, a lightweight chassis specific set of wider wheels and tires will make a world of difference. We created flow formed wheels such as the EC-7 to increase performance. A Brief History of the 1994-2004 Ford Mustang

The SN-95 Mustang was a new era for Ford’s Pony car. Beginning in the 1994 model year and running through 2004, the 4th generation Mustang saw many models including the mainstay V6 and GT, with additional special editions such as the Mach 1, Bullitt, and SVT Cobra.

1996 marked the beginning of the legendary Mod Motor years, as the first overhead cam (SOHC) V8 to go into the Mustang with their new 4.6L. It produced a modest 215 horsepower in the early years and quickly became known as the “2 valve”, featuring 2 valves per cylinder. SVT Cobra models received a new, dual overhead cam (DOHC) motor pumping out an impressive 305 horsepower at the time.

What Makes it a Good Track Car

With the introduction of the New Edge body style in 1999, Ford took aim at their German rivals with a revamped SVT Cobra. It was the first Mustang model to feature independent rear suspension, a big change compared to the traditional solid rear axle in other models. Combined with that a slightly updated 4.6 DOHC motor, close ratio 5 speed manual transmission, and limited slip differential, you had a recipe for success out on track. The 2003 and 2004 Cobra, nicknamed Terminator, took things up a notch (or 10) by beefing up the 4.6, slapping a supercharger on it, and new Tremec T56 six speed transmission.
