TrackSpeed BMW G87 M2, Built for the Nürburgring

When BMW announced the G87 M2, we knew it was only a matter of time before one would find its way to the Nürburgring in full track setup. This particular example, built by TrackSpeed, has quickly become one of the most recognizable M2s circulating the ‘Ring. Not only is it visually striking with its Vulcan Alpha aero package and TrackSpeed livery, but it’s also one of the first G‑chassis M cars to be fitted with a pre-production Ohlins TTX coilover system.

From Stock to Track Weapon

The car began life as a standard G87 M2, but it didn’t stay stock for long. TrackSpeed’s goal was simple: create a car that can live at the Nürburgring, capable of taking on everything the ‘ring can throw at a driver. The suspension was the first major change. TrackSpeed partnered with Ohlins to test their TTX coilover system on the G87 platform, dialing in spring rates and damper settings for both the Nordschleife and GP layout. Paired with a full Vulcan Alpha aero package, including a splitter, side skirts, rear diffuser, and a towering rear wing—the car quickly evolved from a street M2 into a dedicated track machine.

The Perfect Stance

The wheels and tires are equally serious. The car currently runs our most aggressive track setup for the G87 and other G8x M chassis. Give you the most wheel and tire possible, giving you the most grip, both front and rear. Head over to our G87 M2 Wheel Configurator to learn more about our forged wheels and flow-formed wheels.

19” VS-5RS

Wheels: Forged, Motorsport Gold Finish

Front & Rear: 19x11 ET22

Tires: Nankang CR‑S

Front & Rear: 305/30-19

Additional Mods:

15mm front spacers

Apex Fitment Notes Additional front negative camber via adjustable camber plates is required. At least -3° minimum, more may be needed with tires that run wide. With that, some rubbing up front at full lock against fender liners & cooling duct outlets is possible, depending on the tire. Aftermarket or cut duct outlets are recommended.

Originally, the car ran a 295/305 staggered setup, but testing proved a square 305 setup provided better balance and tire rotation for track use.

Inside the Cockpit

Looking inside, the purpose is clear. A Sparco bucket seat with a six‑point harness holds the driver firmly in place, and the interior remains in a clubsport configuration for a mix of usability and safety. Braking is handled by the OEM M Performance setup with upgraded pads and high‑temp fluid, ensuring consistent performance during repeated Nürburgring laps.

Misha’s lap validates TrackSpeed’s decisions from suspension to aero. The G87 M2 handles like a car purpose-built to survive and thrive under Nürburgring conditions. For anyone following the build thread, this video serves as powerful reassurance that each component—coilovers, aero, tire strategy—works cohesively in practice.

What’s Next for the Build

TrackSpeed isn’t done yet. The next phase of the G87 M2 will include swapping to Apex VS‑5RE wheels, adding more power via tuning or turbo work, and exploring weight reduction and cage installation. In the future, if there is a notice of brake fading, consideration of a big brake kit may arise.
