Many of you may have been caught drooling over ft86club member @spitsnaugle’s insanely clean LS2 powered FRS, as his build thread has been ongoing here since June of 2018. Having formally owned an LS-powered 240Z, Joel is quite familiar with the art of tire slaying. This machine quickly became a favorite amongst the APEX staff, and we recently assigned Shutter Fuel Media to capture it in the wild.

Lightweight 17″ wheels in a chassis specific width and offset is one of the key modifications 86/BRZ track enthusiasts like Joel count on for maximizing performance, reducing rotational mass, and mitigating the seasonal tire budget. The 17.8 lbs ARC-8 was designed with brake clearance in mind, clearing a variety of big brake kits including the factory Brembo’s found on the Performance Package BRZ and TRD SE 86 models.

As an enthusiast he made the shift from street driving to track driving in order to fully experience his cars at the limit without putting the public at risk. Matt has owned six Hondas (‘94 Integra LS, ‘95 Integra RS, ‘96 Integra GS-R, ‘06 RSX Type-S, ‘95 Civic VX, ‘17 Civic EX-T), two Subarus (‘15 Impreza, ‘22 BRZ), and is likely shopping for the next addition to his stable. When he’s not helping JDM owners figure out the best wheel setups for their cars, he enjoys playing racing video games and indulging his interest in automotive photography. Fun fact: Matt knows every quotable line in The Fast and the Furious by heart.
